What is Supported Independent Living?

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is designed for individuals who are motivated to build their skills for independence at home and in the community. SIL programs provide personalized support to help individuals achieve their goals and develop the skills needed to live independently in their living environment and community. This includes assistance with learning daily living activities and skills such as housekeeping, social skills, self-care, decision-making, and safety​.

 

Services Provided:

  • Assistance with learning daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning and self-care.
  • Guidance with attaining goals and learning independence skills like budgeting, shopping, and other financial management tasks.
  • Support and guidance with accessing community resources and services.
  • Training and skill development to increase independence.
  • Emotional and social support. 

 

Expected Outcomes:

  • Increased community inclusion
  • Increased self-determination
  • Increased self-advocacy
  • Increased skills of independence

 

Requirements:

  • Participants must be 18+.
  • Have the ability and desire to live independently.
  • Be eligible for PDD funding and have home living support hours.
