Supporting Learning in Secondary Education: Supporting Autistic Students in the Classroom (Grade 7 to Grade 12)

 

About the Workshop:

This workshop is designed to help educators and support staff deepen their understanding of autism and neurodiversity, with a focus on fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students in junior high and high school. Participants will learn ways to support executive functioning skills as well as provide meaningful adaptations and modifications that support learning for all students.

Time: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Agenda:

  • 8:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.: Welcome and Introductions
  • 8:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.: Autism and Neurodiversity
  • 10:45 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Break
  • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Executive Functioning
  • 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.: Lunch (on your own)
  • 1:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.: Modifications and Adaptations
  • 3:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.: Wrap-up
