What is Supported Independent Living?

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is designed for individuals who have the ability and desire to live independently. SIL programs provide personalized support to help individuals achieve their goals and develop the necessary skills to maintain their independence in their own homes or apartments. This includes assistance with daily living activities, such as housekeeping, social skills, hygiene, decision-making, and safety​.

 

Services Provided:

  • Assistance with daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning, and personal care.
  • Support with budgeting, shopping, and other financial management tasks.
  • Help with accessing community resources and services.
  • Training and skill development to increase independence.
  • Emotional and social support. 

 

Expected Outcomes:

  • Increased community inclusion
  • Increased self-determination
  • Increased self-advocacy
  • Increased skills of independence

 

Requirements:

  • Participants must be 18+.
  • Have the ability and desire to live independently.
  • Be eligible for PDD funding and have home living support hours.
