Behaviour and Developmental Support (BDS) agreements are available in Edmonton and Calgary and are funded by FSCD (Family Supports for Children with Disabilities). BDS contracts support children under the age of 17 years 11 months. CFASA is an FSCD-approved service provider in the province of Alberta.
Alberta’s FSCD program works with eligible families to provide support and services tailored to each child and family’s specific needs.
BDS agreements are typically six-month contracts with one (or two) discipline(s) (Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Psychology or Behaviour), focused on two to three achievable objectives within one behavioural or developmental area.
A BDS agreement is a consultation model that includes:
Assessment: We begin by getting to know your child and family through conversations and observations. This helps us understand your child’s strengths, areas for growth, and what matters most to them.
Setting Priorities Together: You know your child best. Together, we set meaningful priorities that support your child’s learning, development, and participation at home, school, and in the community.
Family Coaching and Support: Our team works directly with your child while also supporting you as caregivers. We provide guidance, model strategies, and coach you so you feel confident helping your child grow and thrive in daily life.
Written Service Plan: We create an individualized plan with clear goals and strategies, so you know what supports will look like and how progress will be measured.
Coordination with Other Supports: When appropriate, we collaborate with your child’s school, health providers, and community supports. This ensures everyone is working together and your child receives consistent, connected care.
Neurodiversity-Affirming Approach: We celebrate your child’s unique strengths and promote inclusion. Our work is grounded in honouring voice, choice, assent, and meaningful participation at every step.
Culturally Respectful Services: We honour and integrate your family’s culture, language, and values into every part of service delivery.
