Supporting Autistic Students in the Classroom (Educational Assistants) - Day Two

This two-day workshop will provide Educational Assistants with information, tools, and strategies to better support autistic students in the classroom. You will learn best practices to encourage the independence and participation of students with autism in the classroom.
Workshop content will be delivered by an autistic Ph.D. Candidate in Rehabilitation Science, Registered Psychologist, Speech-Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, and Behaviour Analyst, all with expertise supporting autistic students in a classroom environment. There will be multiple opportunities for questions and answers and practical application of new skills.
Day 1 Topics:
- Introduction to Autism
- Neurodiversity
- Modification and Adaptation in the Classroom
- Building Positive Relationships
Day 2 Topic:
- Introduction to Behaviour, Communication, and Strategies for Increasing Independence
