Professional Services (PS) are for individuals with autism or other neurodevelopmental disabilities, who are looking for support to enhance and enrich their lives. Through a collaborative partnership, neuroaffirming practices, and person-centered service, our team can support you in many different areas of your life.
Professional Services can be accessed in a variety of ways:
- Eligible government funding (e.g., FSCD, Jordan’s principle)
- Funded through individual or group health benefit plans
*Direct billing may be available to certain insurance companies. - Private pay (out of pocket)
Funded Services (Edmonton and Calgary)
We work in partnership with families approved by Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) who may need support in areas across behaviour, communication and social skills, physical abilities, cognitive abilities, or self-help skills and adaptive functioning:
Offered in home, our multidisciplinary team work in collaboration with Autistic children and their families needing support in 2 more areas to support their strengths and learning goals.
Behavioural & Developmental Supports (BDS)
BDS agreements support children/youth in need of support in 1-2 areas with experienced professionals in collaboration with Autistic children and their families.
*To access Clinical Services at the Centre, children must qualify under FSCD’s criteria and have an active agreement.
Jordan’s Principle Funding ensures First Nations children can access public services without facing delays, gaps, or denial due to their identity. It aims to provide equitable access to services like healthcare, education, and social services, even if those services go beyond the standard for non-Indigenous children, when it’s in the child’s best interest.
Group Programs:
Offered in Edmonton, Facing your Fears is an in-person group program that runs for 14 weeks, for Autistic children ages 8 to 14 needing support and tools to manage their anxiety.
PEERS for Teens and PEERS for Young Adults (Edmonton)
Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS) is an innovative, evidence-based program designed for Autistic individuals who want tools and strategies to maintain healthy relationships. Offered for both Teens and Young Adults, this group program runs for 16-weeks and is offered through a neuroaffirming lens.
START Program (Province Wide, Online)
START at CFASA means Supporting Trust, Autonomy, Relationships, Together.
An online communication group that helps parents of young Autistic children, ages 2 to 8, build early language skills through play and everyday routines. The START program uses an approach that incorporates the newest available research in the fields of naturalistic developmental behavioural interventions and neurodiversity affirming supports. It is delivered by a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP). This fun, practical program empowers caregivers with strategies to support communication and connection.
Private Services (Fee for Service) – *Edmonton and surrounding areas.
Private, fee-for-service supports for Autistic individuals or other neurodevelopmental differences of any age. Delivered through a neuroaffirming, person-centred approach, our team partners with you to learn skills in areas like emotional regulation, communication, executive functioning, motor skills, and daily living.
Through a collaborative partnership and person-centered service, our team can support you in many different areas of your life including:
- Emotional or behavioural regulation (e.g., relaxation strategies, managing stress)
- Communication (e.g., expressing your wants and needs, understanding information)
- Executive functioning (e.g., planning and organization, problem-solving, time management)
- Motor skills (e.g., climbing, jumping, writing)
- Activities of daily living (e.g., eating, dressing, using the bathroom)
and more!
The Professional Services team will work with you, your child/youth, and/or your family to develop an individualized plan that focuses on goals and priorities, using a positive, inclusive approach that respects neurodiversity, cultures, unique experiences, and other overlapping and intersectional identities. Your team can work with you in-person (Greater Edmonton Area) at your home, in the community, in other settings that are meaningful to you, or virtually via secure video call (anywhere across Alberta).
